    Ecuador: juez ordena frenar minería en el río Ortega y nombra a una comunidad como su guardiana

    La Comunidad Intercultural Ortega Alto, en el sur de la Amazonía ecuatoriana, ganó una sentencia para proteger al río Ortega de la minería, actividad que contaminó sus aguas, según un informe pericial. La Justicia reconoció en primera instancia que hubo vulneración a los derechos de la naturaleza, pero también al derecho al agua, a un ambiente sano y a la vida. La comunidad, que ha luchado durante años por la protección del río, fue nombrada como la guardiana del río Ortega, lo que significa que tendrá un papel fundamental en la protección y conservación del mismo.
