    Grupos de derechos humanos vuelven a pedir la liberación de activistas ambientales cambodianos presos

    BANGKOK — Setecientos días después de que activistas del grupo ambiental Mother Nature Cambodia fueron encarcelados por cargos ampliamente considerados como represalias por su activismo, 73 organizaciones de la sociedad civil internacional y camboyana han renovado las llamadas a su liberación incondicional. Después de un juicio que duró un mes y medio, 10 activistas de Mother Nature Cambodia fueron condenados a penas de prisión de hasta 10 años por cargos relacionados con la violencia y la conspiración.

    Las organizaciones de la sociedad civil han denunciado que los cargos contra los activistas son falsos y que su encarcelamiento es una forma de silenciar su voz y reprimir su derecho a la libertad de expresión. Han llamado a la comunidad internacional a presionar al gobierno camboyano para que libere a los activistas y garantice su seguridad.
