    Los investigadores están probando si el cruce de corales de elkhorn de Florida y Honduras puede ayudar a restaurar la diversidad genética perdida y mejorar la capacidad de la especie amenazada para resistir aguas más cálidas.

    Casi tres docenas de jóvenes corales de elkhorn cultivados en laboratorio fueron plantados en arrecifes en el Parque Nacional Dry Tortugas de Florida este verano, incluyendo un grupo de “Flondurans”, lo que marca la primera vez que se introdujo esta raza experimental de corales de elkhorn de Florida y Honduras en el parque remoto a unos 70 millas de Key West.
