    El 7 de abril, el Parlamento de Bangladesh aprobó unánimemente la Ley de Conservación de Haor y Humedales, 2026, que prohíbe estrictamente la ocupación no autorizada, la minería no autorizada de minerales en, la contaminación y la electrocución de la vida acuática en humedales naturales como haors, baors y beels. También prohíbe la construcción de estructuras que obstaculicen el flujo natural del agua a los humedales.
